19" Widescreen TFT Monitor - £105 Delivered!

Hanns-G 19" widescreen TFT monitor with VGA & DVI for £105 including delivery from Amazon.

Having bought one from Dabs last week for what then seemed like a bargain £137, I'm not best pleased.

Fill your boots!

Re: 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor - £105 Delivered!

Not sure a 900 pixel vertical resolution would be ideal for computer apps.

Why? What is the "ideal" resolution for all computer apps?

In my experience I cannot work with anything less than 1024 vertical pixels. Perhaps its a personal thing!

AFAIK, 900 is the max vertical resolution for a 19" WS panel. Certainly at the budget end.

I think as long as the graphics card supports the 1440 x 900 native res of the monitor, it will be fine. I haven't noticed any issues in the 10 days or so I've had mine.

Re: 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor - £105 Delivered!

It appears that the same unit is offered by Overclockers UK (more expensive) but the spec states:

OcUK Value Hanns-G HW191D 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Silver (MO-017-OK)
The OcUK Value HW191D has an industry leading ultra-fast 5ms response time making it perfect for blur-free video and gaming. With it's 700:1 contrast ratio and excellent viewing angle there is no other TFT/LCD that can match the quality, value or performance.

- 1440 x 900 (WXGA) Optimum Resolution
- 16.2 Million Colours
- 700:1 Contrast Ratio
- 5ms Response Time
- 300 cd/m2 Brightness
- One DVI-D Input
- One Analogue Input
- 3 Years Manufacturer On-Site Warranty (Call Manufacturer direct on )

Looks a very fine specc'd unit with a response time of 5ms and contrast 700:1

Re: 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor - £105 Delivered!

Only thing the bear in mind is the inbuilt speakers. If you're expecting them to be so poor as to make their inclusion pointless, you won't be disappointed!

Re: 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor - £105 Delivered!

Out of interest, can the unit be rotated through 90 degrees? I think you an get software that rotates the image for panels of such a persuasion!

A lot of current graphics cards/chipsets support different screen orientations natively. As I discovered when I got a call from a friend whose Dell I had recently installed asking why the image was upside down! There were hotkeys enabled & her two year old managed to key the exact combination.

Anyway, back to your question, the mount doesn't swivel but there is a 100mm VESA mounting point if you wanted to do it permanently or search for a 3rd party stand (if such things exist?).

Re: 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor - £105 Delivered!

Hi. If the screen was to be mounted on the wall via a VESA mount, can the stand be completely removed? The manual isn't very clear. I would hope that the circular base AND the connecting arm would be removable. Is this the case?

Regards FRANC

Re: 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor - £105 Delivered!

Do you think this screen could be used as a TV without a PC ?

If so, what kind of box or unit would need ot be attached to it to receive tv ?
