Hi,
Does anyone have one of these players? Just wondered how they compare, especially picture quality.
Thanks |

I think the one to go for is the Mustek - you can get spare batteries for that one too.

I have no idea which of these two portables is the better buy, but spare batteries, and a few other accesories, can be bought for the Ronin from here |

Good link there mate, spare batteries for the Ronin are a lot cheaper then the ones for the Mustek.

Yup, out of stock now.
£163 here ( http://www.microlandtechnology.com/p...?partno=MM9696) - just not sure whether it's any good. Reviews for the Mustek on ebuyer are excellent, might wait to see if any appear for the Ronin before buying one.

I am not so sure about the Mustek
Take a look at this online store's comments for the 7" version: Mustek Comments
They seem to recommend these for 7": Shinco Players
They could be biased but they say they have been selling players since 2002 but more interestingly they still seem to be selling all the other Mustek products which would suggest their comments may be true for that specific model !

I've been reading those comments aswell and don't know what to make of them. The Mustek is available on ebuyer and gets good reviews but I think the Shinco is better, however I don't think the Shinco has AV in which I want for my Digicam as a check of my photos a the end of the day.

I bought the Ronin in the end and I am very pleased.
It has AV inputs as well as S-Video output.
The screen looks to be good and very bright although I have used it mainly for hooking up to a TV at which it has performed impeccably.
MP3 playbakc is also good although the on screen interface could b better for this !

I recently ordered one of these players from Play.com at what seemed to be a very good price of £99.99.
Sadly, the machine was not much cop. The unit responded to the remote intermittently, making it impossible to navigate through DVD menus or change player settings. I did change the battery but it made no difference. I would have tried a replacement, but what put me off big time was the truly awful picture. The screen was affected by faint thick horizontal bars across the entire picture from top to bottom, making the picture unwatchable.
Full marks to Play.com for refunding without quibble, but the player was a big disappointment.
Anyone else had any problems with this player, or was it just me being unlucky (again) ?
