Bench is a make I have seen on alot of produces from Lidl. I dought if it is multiregion though as I bought a Supervision branded player from them quite a while ago for £80 (seems like a fortune now) which despite having no region code on the back would give the message 'region error' if a region 1 disc was tried. You could probably buy it and try it out then return it using the unwanted Christmas pressent excuse though. When I bought the Supervision I had no region 1 discs.

You can change the country code setting of the DVD Player E-Bench KH 6777 by following the below steps:

1. Power on
2. open door
3. press no. 2812
4. a special menu pop up
5. 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2....9 for all region.

If you want one - I'd get out there and get it!! Going very fast indeed - managed to grab a couple at the Rugby store by taking an early lunch. They'd already sold 120!!!

All gone when I went into my local store. Can someone post a review on the player as Lidl will probably repeat the offer in a few months.

I got one and was well impressed when I found out that you can turn macrovision off too on the same page as the region selector once you do the hack.

Excellent player. I've been trying various dvd-rs, about 20 so far and all have worked.

Not on offer in the two local (north-west) stores I tried, and not in the in-store leaflets. Must be a regional offer rather than nationwide - shame

Managed to pick one up from Farnham Lidl.

Seems very reasonable quality for the price!!

Had to visit 2 store till I found one though.
First store (Camberley had sold out by lunch).
Saw one guy pick up three.

Thanks for the region hack, seems to worak a treat.

NIB.

Because it has a full dd/dts/prologic decoder built in it also downmixes dts sound through scart and headphones!

Now thats a feature available on hardly any dvd players and of course the only ones that do have it have dts decoders on board which is rare. Even all in one home cinema systems rarely downmix dts. Its possible the JVC THA-35R does though as thats based on the exact same chipset as the ebench player.

stores in London?

Has anyone seen these in any stores in London?

I tried the Edgware store but no luck. It seems that they stock very limited quantities

Hardly worth trying!

They probably all flew out the door on Monday - thats when I got my couple.

I think you've got more chance of a date with the Pope...

This probably isn't any use to anyone, but Argos are selling ALBA DVD players for £37.99 - I got one for my dad for Christmas. He's not very technical, so if the quality isn't wonderful, it'll hardly upset him, but for under £40 I thought it was worth a shot. Doesn't do a whole lot as far as I know, just the essentials.

Have a look for yourself though

Let me know if this is any use to anyone.
Got mine in one of the stores in Belfast.

jonny82,

Quite a few DVD players now available sub £40 but the Lidl unit offered progressive scan.

Lidl here in Ireland didn't carry it yet but usually a few weeks after you guys in the UK.
