Can anyone advise colour for my cinema room?
Hello I'm in process of re-decorating one of rooms into a Cinema room (18x12ft). One question, what would be the best colour for the room to have the best cinematic experience? I was opting for dark red (redcurrant) colour and the wife wants bluish purple. I have read some sites and they advise against red or blue, as it might reflect on the screen (100") and tarnish the picture colours.
Anyone have any opinion, and does the colour really matter that much?
Regards
Rosh

Re: Can anyone advise colour for my cinema room?
hi roody , your doing the right thing going dark.when i painted my room i wasn't sure at first but now i love it. i ended up going for a dark brown and the end result is great when you have a big screen. i have just decided to paint the ceiling black, mabe get around to that this week.have a look at mine as it might give you a better idea. good luck

Re: Can anyone advise colour for my cinema room?
Thanks!
Really nice rooms!
So I guess dark, neutral is the way to go for a projector?
No objections for red-currant then?

Red with some subtle lighting (when and where needed) can give a really nice, comfortable and warm finish

Re: Can anyone advise colour for my cinema room?
I`ve just done mine Rosh
we foung red currant to be too red for us and it did seem to cast red on the image.
We`ve done the screen wall and side walls/ceiling out to 2 mts in black velvet and the rest of the walls inc rear one in Dulux Maraschino Mocha and we think it looks superb.
pics in my blue thread mate at the bottom
cheers Al

Re: Can anyone advise colour for my cinema room?
Cheers Al, great project!
Thanks for your input, only thing.....
ooops..... The reason I didn't respond yesterday was cos I've just spent bank holiday Monday painting the whole room red-currant! Well it does look quite red and bright in the sun - hopefully it will be more ambiant in the evening, with delicate lighting. I'm going to invest in some black blinds, to cut out any sunlight.
I'll let you know if I stick with red-currant!
Regards
Rosh
