I built a wooden frame with a center brace, and then stretched blackout cloth over it. It's only 7ft wide, but cost £28 for all the parts. I've since replaced the cloth with 1.2 gain screen material, which cost £102.
I got the wood (69mm x 18mm x 2.7m) from B&Q, and the white blackout cloth from Alders, but any curtain shop should be able to suply it. It comes in 54" widths and is sold by the yard or meter.
Search for DRH or Harkness Hall for pukka screen material. I'd try the BO cloth first, just to make sure your screen size is OK.
Pics on my website if you're interested.
