Home Cinema wiring

Hi,

I am about to lay new carpet in my lounge and I've got a few days before it goes in BUT I want to have the wiring for my home cinema in place beofre the carpet.

The rooms are already decorated and so I can't go through the walls or ceiling leaving me with only the option of going through floorboards. Please can someone asnwer the following question based on the fact that I'm lloking to putchase an onkyo 606 amp:

1. Which cable should I use quality is most important. I've got a load of Cat6 cable lying around is this suitable, if so how do I wire?

2. how do I connect the speaker cables to the amp?

3. Do all the speakers require the same cabling for example does the woofer need a different cable type?

Please prompt responses will be very much appreciated.

Re: Home Cinema wiring

Use speaker cable not CAT6, far stronger.
The SUB requires a screened single phono cable, so purchase the correct length.

Re: Home Cinema wiring

If your looking for a good range of cable then i can highly recommend QED speaker and subwoofer cable, especially the Silver anniversary XT range. Try www.audiovisualonline.co.uk for excellent prices. I would also consider banana plugs to connect your cable to your amp for a better connection.

Hope this helps
