Adding an inline switch to rope lights?

Someone recommended these Rope Lights I think the're LED:

Duralite Rope Lights

I understand they have to be fitted with a plug to be switched on/off but can some kind of inline switch be added so I wouldn’t have to keep getting to the mains to turn the power on and off?

Idea was im going to have them behind the bed headboard so they glow onto the backwall, so i wanted a switch just by the bedside so i dont have to get up to switch them on and off

any ideas whether this can be done and what i need to buy?

Thanks

Re: Adding an inline switch to rope lights?

Hi might be cheaper and easier to just buy a remote control plug socket and control like the home easy range which can be bought from B&Q. I have my lights controlled by one in my floating wall.

Hope this helps

Good alternative although im guessing this will cost alot more than just adding an inline switch?

Re: Adding an inline switch to rope lights?

Vamos Dan with the B&Q range you just plug it into the wall socket and then plug the plug for the rope light into it. You can then use the remote control to turn the switch on and off. The range is quiet reasonably priced.

Or there's this option which is also part of the home easy range and quiet reasonably priced...

Looks like this is the sort of thing you are after - cheap as chips too!

In Line Cord Switch
