I'm sorry, but what exactly is a floating wall?

Might someone help me out and tell me what a floating wall is? THey seem quite popular.

Is this an acoustically decoupled wall for soundproofing purposes?

Thank you

Just a wall built on a wall to house a tv screen and speakers mainly.

Just a feature wall really with lighting behind. Also has the added bonus of somehwere to hide cables and easier mounting of screen and speakers
