Streaming media/wireless sky questions!
Hello all,
not sure if this is in the correct section or not but i'll ask away anyways.
Recently started converting my garage (its not connected to the house, its out the back at the end of the garden) and although its not a home cinema, its a pool room with whats soon to be a tv and a sound system.
What i want to know is whats the best way to steam media to the tv out there? Would an internet radio be worth looking at for streaming music from my pc out there? I don't really want to run any cables from the house to the garage so either a wireless setup or an alternative would be good. Fancied one of those touch screen jukeboxes you get but they were expensive!
I also have Sky in the house and would like to get that out to the garage again without cables running!
Any help would be appreciated guys!
Cheers
PS. I'll get pics of the Pool Shack up in a thread of its own when its done!

Re: Streaming media/wireless sky questions!
Im not very technically minded about this stuff. but from what Iv seen from here you're probably best of getting a media server, connect your sky and a pc with all of your dvds etc loaded onto it, and do it that way...

Re: Streaming media/wireless sky questions!
Build your own touchscreen jukebox. All you need is an old PC, i used an old Pentium 4 i had from 4 years ago a reasonably sized Hard drive and a 2nd hand touchscreen which you can pick up off of Ebay for about £100 for a good one. I got a nice 15" ELO one which is extremely responsive and sturdy for £110 delivered
Connect it all up, load the touchscreen software and buy some jukebox software, i use and cant reccomend highly enough Albumplayer. It costs about £30 but that includes lifetime upgrades and is by far the best touchscreen software ive used.
The new version 5 Beta of Albumplayer is absolutely amazing, lightning fast and designed for touchscreens so the buttons are nice and big. And the album Art and onscreen keyboard really make it feel like a jukebox, its customisable as well.
Ill need to get some pictures of my build fired onto here.
As for streaming Media, if you have a wireless network and the garage isnt out of range, you could do worse than buy a PS3 and load Tversity onto your main PC. You can then stream any media from your PC to the PS3 and you get a nice Bluray player as well!
Although i dont think there is any way to stream Sky using one yet.

Re: Streaming media/wireless sky questions!
This is something I am looking into as well as i want internet connection and ideally my virgin tv down the end of my garden but its 200 foot away. At present one thing im looking at is the network plugs as they aledgadely transmit the signal for 200 mtres.

Re: Streaming media/wireless sky questions!
Really intrested in this building your own jukebox idea!
How does this work in relation to videos showing etc? i'm guess ing the software allows you to do this sort of thing??
Sounds brilliant. Would love to see the pictures of yours.
Also i have an xbox but i was looking at getting a blue ray player when the missus suggested just getting a ps3! (she wants it to play little big planet)
sounds like a better idea now!

Re: Streaming media/wireless sky questions!
I'll need to get some pictures sorted for it. Im currently getting a composite case made for it by my mate, so ill wait till its all finished.
If you wanted to use the Jukebox for movies you could use Windows Media Centre or Mediaportal , if you have a dual headed graphics card in the PC you can also display it on either TV or a projector as well as the touchscreen.
