Wall chasing

Why is channeling out a wall referred to as chasing?

if you've ever used a chaser you'll know that if you 'push' it instead of 'pulling' it you can find yourself chasing it round the room.

although saying that my mrs isn't too bad. She's not the type to see the current state but the end result.
