Do i need to channel more than one cable if I have an AV Receiver?

I am bout to buy a LCD TV that I want to wall mount and I plan to cut channels in the brickwork to run the power and a HDMI cable to connect up with an AV receiver plus channels for a 5.1 speaker system.

My question is before a plaster it all up - is do I need to put any more cable HDMI, component or otherwise in the trunking to the TV or am I right in aying everything can get plugged into the AV Receiver and I only need to connect that to the TV via one HDMI cable?

Just don't want to live to regret things later

Thanks

" What are you doing for watching tv e.g sky, built in freeview?"

Currently freeview, DVDs, Nietendo Wii, ( might like to link up my PC or use PS3 to stream from PC) but skyHD might be tempting if I can persuade the wife - like I say I need to keep my options open and dont want to find 6 months down the line I need another cable in or will the AV receiver serve all my needs ( looking at Sony STRDA2400ES).

Thanks for the replies

I think what Sammy may have been getting at is that if you're using the freeview built in to your TV [and not a stand alone unit], you'll need some way of getting the sound from the TV to the AV receiver as well.

Re: Do i need to channel more than one cable if I have an AV Receiver?

I know this isnt the forum to ask, but while I'm on, the LCD I'm looking at is the Sony 46W4500 and I understand it will convert to 1080p but will the AV receiver do a better job?
