Here is my current setup so far

This is where i am going to have my projector screen on when it comes next week

This is where I have converted my draw to house to my PS3, external HDD
and Sony VPL-EW5 projector

There is a window to the left hand side but hardly lets any light in when i close the curtains.

No offence mate, but it seems your setup is running on a bit of a budget there
Well here, one thing i just have to say before you go of and spend about £100 on a new projector screen, you should try out this blind first... Its honestly a very good solution for your setup and all that extra cash could go towards a stand for you AV Equipment...

I would also consider painting a matt white on a screen section on the wall and painting the surrounding wall a very dark colour. This will be cheap, compromised but worthwhile IMO

Thanks for all the advice. I am working towards a budget.

I will painting the whole white tomorrow and then putting my screen up on Tuesday. Got my screen for a special price as i know people in the AV industry.

Will let you see the results when completed.

I have now put up my projector screen but can't seem to get the correct image on the screen. it appears to be a little crooked when my PS3 is being used from HDMI. It also has another border around the original image.

my screen is a 92 inch in size.

projector in use is Sony VPL-EW5

See pic here of current image and if any of you can advise on getting the correct image on the screen?

You may be working on a limited budget but you recognized that Cinema in the Home requires more than a television can give - congrats and hoorah!!!

We tried a large tv - 56in - didn't work - tvs just can't give that Cinema in the Home epxerience - I define that as everyone in the room goes "WOW, this is just like being at the Cinema!!!"

Be sure to use an up scaling dvd player if your projector has digital (HDMI or DVI) input and your standard definition movies will look very much like HD.

So many people seem to worry more about the sound system than what Cinema is really all about which is mainly visual and needs to be "larger than life" - sound is important but, in our opinion, only about 20% of the Cinema experience and it is a support role for the screen and projector - so and again - Congratulations - you have cracked the code for Home Cinema success (and it is NOT a telly) LOL!

So true!!! I always feel like im in the movie when its on a big screen projecor, But when i watch a film on my tv bahh lol

Just shows that this site is all about opinion - I would have the cinematic experience far nearer 50-50 (infact exactly 50% - 50%) in terms of sound vs vision!!! Imagine no rear sound at the cinema - that to me is worth far more than 20% of the enjoyability factor!

I presume you have tried messing with the keystone correction on your projector settings......

Anyway good luck with the project. No matter what the budget, a projector adds loads to the enjoyment of watching films at home. Have you thought of what you are going to do for sound?
