Advice for Home Cinema Room
I am in the process of having an extension built and changing room uses etc. I intend to have a 'home cinema' room (3.5m x 5.5m) with the tv / screen being on the smaller wall so that we have the benefit of a long room.
At present we have a patio door in the place where I would like to hang plasma / projector screen. I have agreed with the builder for them to remove the door and fill it in with a wooden frame (capable of holding tv) and plasterboard. This gives me the benefit of being able to run cables etc.
First question, does anybody know where I can get fancy glossy panels rather than using plasterboard and plastering / painting?
Secondly, with the works going on, I am getting a few additional power sockets installed and new lighting system (Dimmable spot lights). The room will be replastered, so I was thinking of wiring the room ready for 7.1 speakers and projector from the ceiling. And any other wiring that may be useful to futureproof the system.
Can anybody recommend wall plates that I can use for the speakers? Also I will need wall plates for Projector. Again, any recommendations? And what type of connectors shall I use for Projector? (Sky HD, Xbox 360, Popcorn Hour A110, Nintendo Wii and Media PC)?
What is best distance to mount a projector from the screen? I will probably go for the Mitsubishi HC7000 (when I can eventually afford it). With the power and hdmi cable and any other necessary cables coming from the ceiling, would there be any interference from the dimmable spot lights?
In terms of the speaker cable, would there be any issues with running it close to Power cable (lights and wall sockets)? And what kind of cable would you recommend? My speakers are Bose Satellite speakers and Marrantz Floor speakers for the two front.
No doubt I will have more questions but thanks in advance for now.
