plasma mounting to stud wall

right about to purchase a lovely pio 5090 to go in my attic/games room

anyhow its only a stud wall with no brickwork behind it.

how do you make sure the tv is lined up correctly before you go fixing the bracket to the wall?
Just I have to cut out a section of the plasterboard to re-inforce the wall ( by fixing some lengths of 4"/2 across the uprights which are already in place.

but im alittle un nervy about how to get the correct position for the tv? its just one side is a sloping wall and lets just the ceiling isnt excatly sqaure to the eye. but inplace at the moment I have a massive canvas which went on using a level and it looks spot on.


just need some advise for gettign the right position and whehter my idea about re-inforceing the stud wall is spot on?

is there anything else I should worry about? look out for or even include so it goes straight forward without being a cock up! I was thinknig of once I have added more timber to replaster and then fit the wall bracket, but where is the best place to leave a hole for the wires to go through?

Some newer mounts have a swivel on them. Ostensibly, it's so you can change the orientation from horizontal to vertical - but it perfectly covers up any defects in your original mounting.

You can also get mounts with "tilt". It's meant so you can mount high and angle the screen down. On your wall, you could use it the opposite way up. That way the tilted screen would be perpendicular to the floor.

As a quicky why not tape out your TV shape on the wall with masking tape or whatever and live with it for a day or so to make sure you're happy with position. Joebo links look good for the rest.

though with the tilt mount would that be suitable for that wall? I meen it recommend on one of those sites to put the tv no higher than 40"-45" off the floor.

how much are these tilt mounts and do they actually ofer better viewing?
