| New Member | Using a 110/220 power converter - "waste" consumption
I need some "electrical" advice. I am thinking of buying a mid-end receiver in the US (it costs 50-70% LESS in the US than in Europe). However, all the relevant receivers are 110V only, so I will need to downconvert 220V to 110V. The manufacturer claims cca 9A at 110V, so I am thinking of getting a 2,000W converter. My worry is how much "waste" will this converter cause? In other words, for example for each 100W in real receiver consumption, how much will go to waste? I would appreciate any insight on this (or pointers to where I can find this info). Cheers, Radim |
