Deciding on redecorating the house and my wife said she would preffer the tv on the fireplace wall what I want to do is build a fasle wall to sink the tv into maybe bringing it out about 7 inches or so, the chimmney wall is concrete rather than the plasterboard wall I have the tv mounted on just now so am I better mounting the bracket straight to the concrete chimmney or fix wooden brackets to the wall and fit bracket to them. Also i want to bring the false wall out wider than the chimmney wall to in co-orporate sunk in shelves to position sky box and ps3 either side of the TV would 2x2 or 2x4 timber be my best option for erecting the framework.
some pics just now
the wall will be going from top to bottom boxing in tv and fireplace
quick diagram of what I want to do with 2 boxed shelves either side.
Would MDF be suitable or would I need to source something fire-resistant to accomodate the gas fire.
many thanks in advance
