Wall plates

Hello,

I'm in the process of redecorating my lounge, so I've decided to bury the cables for my Samsung plasma in the wall.

I read Miniholic's huge thread, where he made his own wall plate for his speaker cables, and this inspired me to do the same (all the electrical fittings in my house are satin brass, and I've only found white plastic or chrome as a proprietory product)

BUT, and here's the reason for my thread, I would also like to do this for the various signal cables going to the plasma. Obviously, the audio out and component sockets, being round holes, will be no problem, but has anyone any experience in cutting holes for Scarts and HDMIs in metal blank wall plates? Can it be done with a reasonably professional-looking result?

There's some modular stuff here, they have brass finish surrounds, might be easier than trying to cut holes in blank ones

Yeah, I thought I'd hit the jackpot with those when I saw them, but they don't do Scart modules.

Thanks, Suniil, but also only in white or chrome, not satin brass. I would prefer to go with sockets in the wall plate, rather than brushes, from an aesthetic point of view. I just think it looks more professional.

Why do you want scart?

It is a pain in the arse to wire all 21pins and at best will be no better than a simple component connection.

Try www.aca-apex.com as manufacturers and suppliers of modules to both Trade and Retail.

Hi Lock Man,

Before I made my own I was looking at these and will probably be buying a multimedia wall plate from them when I finally ceiling mount my PJ (still waiting to upgrade).

My plan is to rub the plate down and spray it satin black, but that might not be so simple in your case, although it might be worth contacting them to see if you can supply them with a blank that matches your existing fittings as I understand the work is done in-house.
