Starting new false wall build - final design

OK. After many weeks thinking, planning and Sketchup..ing I think I've finally got a design together which is able to hide the wires. There's just one small detail left...

It's going to be one of the 3 below. All similar, just different finishes at the top. I can't decide which one would look best although I'm leaning towards the curved one.

Interested to see what you lot think?

Top one looks the best but is there no way you can bring the height of the TV down a bit. If your image is to scale it looks like your going to be sat there looking up all the time your watching TV.

Re: Starting new false wall build - final design

There wouldn't be any room for the center speaker if the TV was lower. As above, it would be 107cm from he floor which isn't bad I don't think. Your eye line would be level with the bottom of the TV. Maybe the drawings throw the perspective off a bit.

So that's 2 people who think the top one is best. Don't think there's too much room above the speakers? Also note that the 2 joins between the 3 sheets of MDF will be beveled to create a visable seem, not filled into one sheets.

I think the top ones the best, although the curved one looks kinda retro
I wouldn't put a fire under the Screen though, as it will burn/warp/damage it!

Re: Starting new false wall build - final design

Interesting! Seems the top one's the fave.
And don't worry about it going above the fire [which is already in btw], it will be fine. The fire throws naff all heat upwards. It radiates the heat out [and not a lot of heat at that].

I quite like the curved version, although maybe not such a big curve. A simple rounding off the corners would look fine I think.
