Source for floating shelves?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a source to get floating shelves, ideally white?

I've seen the ones that Ikea sell but they are a bit flimsy.

Thanks
Lance

Re: Source for floating shelves?

Thanks for you reply.
I saw the thread by Paul D, but I don't really want to chase out my walls, and ideally wanted to buy something off the shelf if you pardon the pun

Regards
Lance

Re: Source for floating shelves?

Not white, but www.dwell.co.uk have some floating shelves. We got some of the Walnut ones and they are very solid. I've seen some in Homebase as well but probably just as flimsy as Ikea.

Re: Source for floating shelves?

I don't know if there is an Ikea near you, but check out the Lack Range if there is.

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20103752

I bought them in white and they look good.

Thanks but I don't think the Ikea ones are solid enough for what I want to put on them

Re: Source for floating shelves?

I'd take the Ikea ones over the Homebase anytime - I installed the former very easily, and it is very stable. I recently bought several of the latter, and was appalled to find the veneer lifting from the edges, and found the mounting rods to be far less sturdy than the Ikea ones - overall not a good buy, even with the 'buy 2 get 1 free' offer. In fact I intend to send mine back :]

OMG, they're perfect! I want some nice looking shelves for my Blu-rays and all other floating shelves I've seen are too deep for my liking. I can now have 150mm deep shelves just they way I like 'em.
