Fake Chimney breast advice

Hi,

We are currently planning our plasma install. Its a relatively modern house and am going to use the recess from the chimney for shelving and, to provide the extra depth we are considering a fake chimney breast as well. This would seem to provide the 'focal' point of the room now the fireplace has been removed.

What we can't decide is between mounting the plasma (Pioneer Kuro) flat on the wall or alternatively recessing it into the breast itself....mainly because the thing juts out 11cms!
If I was to recess it I suppose I would need to leave a gap all the way around the tv to reach the controls/auxiliary USB input.

We have looked (in awe?!!!) at Elootos' install:
Windows 7 Media Center in false chimney breast and other continuing work.....
A Media Center House: from loft to lounge, kitchen, bedroom...
(and especially liked the LEDs!)

How have people handled installing quite deep screens? Been searching though the forums but has anyone got any pictures of this sort of install? Any good advice

Thanks!!

Nick
