The wall is beginning.

Small wall project, but first just going to temp hang the plasma for a week to see if we like the height and the location. Hopefully have it hung tomorrow sometime. One thing I noticed in the instructions it says to keep the plasma 7cm from the rear wall how many people have actually done this as mine is going to be about 2.5cm as that's the depth of the bracket.

Re: The wall is beginning.

Good luck David,

Really forward to this one as you appear to have a carbon copy of my lounge! Unfortunately mine is on hold until at least the end of summer as I have one of those things stood in front of your TV on the way!

So as you see I need some inspiration, keep the pics coming, we love 'em!

Re: The wall is beginning.

Thanks rwttm001 nice looking fire place you have there. I did not even get round to staining my surround as I did not really like the fire place and we never used it. yeah more pics coming, doing some sketchup drawings just now to see how my measurements are going to work.

Re: The wall is beginning.

It's not until you start drawing that you realise that your measurements need to be gone over and over again. And mine are still not adding up.

Re: The wall is beginning.

Small update, remember this install is temp to see if we like height (118cm to centre of screen) I know this looks low and it does even to me but it's higher than our old crt it just looks odd I think because of the size of screen. The idea was to put the wood in to bring the bracket out far enought so the TV would fit and also to transfer all the weight down the wood to the floor, the fixings being just to hold the wood and bracket against the wall. Well that was the idea, do not ever use those plasplug airblock fixings as they are crap I bought them instead of the hammer in fixings I was going to use, but in the end I had to use the hammer in ones and they are far better. Picture well is not great, don't know if there is a setting on the tv to assign the scart input to rgb will have to ask around unless someone knows, I can see lots of vertical lines down the screen all the way along it i have seen the similar samsung 50" and never noticed anything like that so will have to wait and see. The bracket was an £18 job and was superb can't see how you can be charging £60 for a non tilting bracket the amount of fixings it came with was amazing for the price.

Ended up using these and i wish i had from the start.

Re: The wall is beginning.

For my future reference, what actions were required to block up the fireplace? Specifically, did you put anything behind, what did you use to block it up and how did you fix the new 'wall' in place...?

Appreciate any enlightenment you can offer.
