Extending IR to front of room

Hi all,

I am after a decent and inexpensive method of extending my amp, Sky HD and media centre PC's IR to receieve signal from the front of the room, when they are positioned at the back.

Any help appreciated.

Re: Extending IR to front of room

Hi Rob,

Keane electronics do an IR repeater. Basically you have an IR receiver at the front of your room (next to the TV, or somewhere convenient. This is then hard wired back to your equipment area, where it plugs into the "control" box. From the control box, you plug in the IR transmitter, which retransmits the IR to your equipment.

Fairly straightforward system, only hassle is running the (v thin) cable to the back of the room - I was able to route mine under the floor.

I bought their optional receiver which looks like a blank socket faceplate, and is quite neat. The standard unit is a black box, like a rounded off matchbox I suppose.

HTH,
MarkP

Having trouble finding this repeater. Do you have a link anywhere?

Thanks.
