New Room

I'm starting a new home cinema project - setting up as 5.1 rather than 7.1. I've some experience having done one before.

Room is 16'11 by 16'2, and has a slight L-shape to it as the door & 1 wall come out about 2'. The main area used will be about 16'2 by 14'2 wide.

I'm keen to avoid floor standers (I have some B&W 604's) but don't want to spend a fortune on fitting in-walls. My partner would prefer maximising room space, the room is a little on the acoustic bright side, but may settle once wall coverings & furniture are in place. (prob amenable to acoustic treatments)

Question ---> Are in-walls or on-walls as good as my 604's ??? (Using a Denon 3803 at moment)
If so, can people recommend suitable in-wall or on-wall combinations for me to look into & audition??? As the seating is near the rear wall I may need to use dipoles on the left & right surrounds.

Budget for speakers must be kept down to less than £700 really, hence the above query, is it possible to get good 604 level performance from in-walls or on-walls at that budget - I suspect not!

Re: New Room

Acoustic energy made an excellent set which included a on wall loudspeaker http://www.acoustic-energy.co.uk/Pro...ries/index.asp and from their site those on wall speakers are the only ones in the range that are being withdrawn http://www.acoustic-energy.co.uk/E-S...ARCH%20RESULTS are are on offer at £199 a pair.
Rears = http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz..._aelite1.shtml centre http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/2070 and sub unfortunatly pushes the price out http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/2071

Re: New Room

Anyone got any of these, they look quite interesting. I already have a B&W sub I can use at the mo, so they're not far out of my range to be honest.

The on-walls could do LCR and the bookshelfs surrounds using wall mounts I guess.

Anyone know where they could be auditioned?
