I am strongly tempted to build one of these next year, so your page is bookmarked.
Keep the photos flowing....

Re: DIY Rythmik Audio Servo 12" Sealed 56l
Lots more pictures to come when I do some more work on it. Hoping to have time to build the raw enclosure over the weekend.
I've decided that I am going to veneer it in oak and got that ordered yesterday as well.
The DS12s kit was shipped yesterday. Fingers crossed it all arrives in one piece and doesn't take too long.

Excellent, having now done some reading up i too am looking forward to this and also might give this is a go next year.
Did you consider using plywood as opposed to mdf, is there a massive cost difference between the two?

Re: DIY Rythmik Audio Servo 12" Sealed 56l
I did consider ply, but not for long. The plans do say that void free ply can give slightly better performance, but I was quite happy with Ilkka's numbers from an MDF enclosure and the fact that MDF is ubiquitous in many subwoofer enclosures.
In B&Q they did some crappy quality softwood ply for £27 and some usable looking stuff for £41. I wasn't convinced it would be any better than MDF. I think Marine ply is £40-£80 a sheet.
I'm sure there are others who are far more knowledgeable than I am and could comment on this, but for me it was a diminishing return and I am just going to stick to what it says in the plan.

Re: DIY Rythmik Audio Servo 12" Sealed 56l
The 8'x4' sheet of MDF was cut up into the correct panel sizes at the B&Q I bought it from by their cutting service. This gives nice clean, square edges.
All the cutouts I did yesterday were with a router with a simple attachment for cutting straight edges parallel to another edge and large radius circles. The 4" holes were done with a hole saw.

Re: DIY Rythmik Audio Servo 12" Sealed 56l
There are links for everything I have bought so far in the costs section at the end of the website. The specific kit I bought was the DS12 sealed (12 dB/octave) 2cu ft here:
http://www.rythmikaudio.com/DS12.html
I will post some pictures of the driver and plate amp when they arrive. I'm expecting them to be a few days yet as the USPS tracking system confirms that they left the US on the 22nd but will now presumably be in customs somewhere in the UK...
Good luck!

Re: DIY Rythmik Audio Servo 12" Sealed 56l
Also can you tell us how much import tax / customs charges you had to pay to bring this from the US.
Much appreciated. This definately looks like something i want

Re: DIY Rythmik Audio Servo 12" Sealed 56l
There is no UK supplier I am aware of. I ordered direct from the US.
According to the TARIC (goods import) codes I looked up, there should be 4.5% import duty on the amp plate and 3% on the driver, plus 17.5% VAT, depending upon what Rythmik put on the customs declaration. No idea how UK customs will treat this, but am guessing there should will be up to around $130 in duty and VAT to pay on top...hopefully less. I haven't paid this yet because I haven't yet received the amp plate and driver.
Merry Christmas to you too!
