Mounting TV on Plasterboard Wall.

Not too sure if this is the right area, but I need a bit of advice.

My mum wants an LCD/Plasma for her front room, but the only wall she can put it on is made from 9mm or 15mm plasterboard.

Is there anyway I can get this to stay on the wall, as I fear it will be just plainly too heavy?

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Mounting TV on Plasterboard Wall.

If it's a timber frame type house (i.e. there are solid wooden uprights behind the plasterboard every few feet) you can locate these and mount horizontal wooden battens onto them (you can even cut out the plasterboard and sink them in so they do not push the TV too far away from the wall). Or if your lucky like I was, you may find that the screw holes on the mounting bracket naturally line up with these wooden uprights. As long as you have screws long enough to go through the plaster and well into the wood you should be fine.

There are also a myriad of different fixing types suitable for plaster board, but I would not like to put faith in these only.

Re: Mounting TV on Plasterboard Wall.

The short answer is yes you can mount it on that wall!

My advice would be to use the 'search' facility on this site , there is 100's of posts identical to this one on this site
