sending remote control signal through thin wall

currently have a loft conversion being carried out.

got the wall sorted for where the lcd will be mounted below.

the plan is to hide all the AV equipment behind this wall in the loft space.

the only issue i have are the remote controls. what is the best way of sending the signal through this wall?

thanks

Re: sending remote control signal through thin wall

Best option would be to get a universal type with an RF extender. Something like the Harmony 1000 would be ideal, remote and RF extender around £350... You need internet access to program it, just to let you know...

Dupe...

Re: sending remote control signal through thin wall

You can also use something like the Digieye (http://www.habitek.co.uk/catalog/cat32_1.htm) which allows you to use the existing remotes, it just passes the beam from your remote from the sender which you position in the room to the receiver which you put behind the wall.

If the cupboard is going to be tight i.e. not much room between the front on the equipment and the wall then you'd need one which has the little remote sensors to attach to the equipment you're wanting to control.

Have a look at Letsautomate too http://www.letsautomate.com/index.cf...IRAccessories&

Re: sending remote control signal through thin wall

thanks,

is there a small delay on the wireless senders?

do you think a wireless xbox 360 controller would work through that thin wall?

Re: sending remote control signal through thin wall

Hi,

I use the Keene IR extender and it works a treat. I bought the extra socket faceplate receiver, which is a white translucent square that fits a conventional single socket backbox, because the wife wasn't keen on the standard receiver. It's discreet, I thought, but I have to admit it would have looked a bit odd stuck on the edge of the plasma somewhere. Good system though. No delay that I've noticed.

I have gone with the harmony 895 for a similar setup. Though amazon/royal-mail seem to have lost it in the post so am trying to find it at the moment.
