Wiring behind plaster board wall? Dib Dab??

Hi,

I live in a new built semi detached and want to hang my lcd in on my living wall which seperates me and my neighbours house.

It is a plaster board wall but there does not appear to be any consistenet spacing for joists (eg when i know on the wall you get hollow and solid sections spread all over the wall - does not appear to be single floor to ceiling joist - is this a dib dab wall?)

I want to position lcd in the middle of the wall and the various electric units placed by the corner of the wall.

I was hoping to drill holes at each end and fish the wire through wall however dues to inconsitent hollow/solid bits not sure if wires will simply fish through.

Can anyone please help with alternative options? A friend has suggested taking skirting board off, cut a bit off the plasterboard and run wires along the bottom. Is this the only option due to nature of the wall?

Re: Wiring behind plaster board wall? Dib Dab??

My walls are the same and I managed to feed my rear surrounds by passing an old metal tape measure down behind the plaster board (took the right angled metal tip off it first). The tape came out behind the skirting which I'd removed, so I then used masking tape to stick the cable to the end of the tape measure and pulled it back up inside the wall. I was lucky that there was a gap between the dobs of adhesive. You might find you can do the same horizontally ( if I understood you correctly). If you are unlucky you may have to chase where you hit the adhesive, then patch it in after, like I did over my patio door to get to the last speaker. Also scart leads are too thick for the connectors to fit, you might get away with HDMI and component.

See my thread (post number 12 if the link doesn't work right) to see what I mean:
KelvinS1965's setup.

Hope this helps.
