Floating Wall/Insulation Question

Like everyone else on this forum (it seems), I am building a false/floating wall to house my Plasma.

I've got about 15cm of space between the plasterboard and the brick wall.

Do I need to insulate this? It's an internal wall as part of an open plan room, so I'm not worried about the sound travelling into the next room.

My main concern is that the void may become boomy or vibrate ? Is this likely ? If so do I need to get anything specialist to dampen it or will normal loft insulation secured vertically be ok ?

I'll post pictures of my install if anyones interested in another false wall install.
Especially if you want to see a bodge-it-diy install

Ta.

Let me put it another way then

Out of all you guys that have completed a floating/false wall install, who put sound insulation (rockwool type stuff) in the cavity ?

What does knocking the wall with your hand do? (give it a good whack) Does is sound like it booms or is acting likes a large speaker? You mention a 15cm gap, I take it this is between your plasterboard false wall and the skin of the internal wall that you've built it off. Unless you have serious bass it's unlikely the cavity itself would boom, rather the plasterboard may resonate so you may be wise to put battons across the back to hold it solid against the internal wall; battons will stop any large sections of plasterboard ringing and insulation will stop the cavity itself booming.

Put up a picture if you can.
