My new living Room install

Although my install is now finished after 5 months ( Thought it would take a month) i thought i would post a few pics that i took as i went along. I also have a few questions that i thought someone might be able to answer. Firstly the equipment i'm using is as follows

Sharp Aquios 46X1DE
220cm Drop down electric projector
LG AN110 Projector
Sony STRDA1220ES
Crystal Audio SmartART4 5.1 Speakers
Sony PS3
Sony X100 Media Center with 1TB
XBOX 360with HDdrive
Sky HD

Lots of leds and lights!!!!!! lol+

There are loads more photos aswell about 200 to be exact plus there are also leds are a plinth that has been done which i will put photos ups of tomorrow along with the screen.

The queries i have is

1. I need someone to set the whole lot up properly ( things don't work as they should) i live in Northants
2. I only have 2 in and 1 out in the way of HDMI ports on my amp ( 2 on the tv) but want to be able to put everything through both the tv and the projector
3. I saw a post on here that i can't find anymore with a program called " My dvd collection" i think, Where it was a bit like media centre in that you saw the front cover of the dvd and where able to select it and would just play.

Any help would be great

Nice setup mate!

Need some info before i can help on No.3

What operating system do you have on your HTPC?
Have you ripped all of your DVD's to a Hard drive and how did you rip them?

Re: My new living Room install

Fantastic setup!!!! Love it! Please do your setup justice by posting a better final pic.. your last one has too much shake to make out any detail.
Absolutely brilliant. My jaw dropped when looking at the final pics. How much did your builder charge if you don't mind my asking?

Re: My new living Room install

2. You'll need to use a matrix HDMI switcher, Octava and Genfen both do ones that widely recomended. Think the Octava is marginally cheaper at 200 odd quid
3. Lots of the Media Centre suites do this. Meedio is quite a good one which I've used quite bit, theres another one which I can't remember the name of which is very similar to Meedio but is free. ( It may be callled MediaPortal)

Re: My new living Room install

I will post more pictures as have decided to get a decorator to finish mainly cause i bought the house in Feb new have finished every other room in the house including wiring the whole house for sound/cat5 switchable for zones ( 8 including the garden and bathrooms, nothing like taking a crap to music!!! lol)Then a sort of hub for music in the living room via equipment i didn't want in my front room. I did all the work myself with a little help from a friend to put the frame up and someone to do the plastering, so thats electric's/lighting,frame,plaster boarding.the frame for the plinth and all the edging and the rope light and led's the lot. So was a) knackered b) wanted it done before xmas. I'd guess the front room has set me back somewhere close to 10000 but thats with about 500 for trades plasterer/decorator 6500 on equipment and the rest on materials inc lights and sockets etc oh and the glass which is 8mm tempered and bronzed which was 400. sort of started and evolved as i went along, but am pleased with the results. I might like to add at this point that the girlfriend doesn't see the point but hey she can't tell the difference between sd and hd so what does she know
3My PC has got WindowsMCentre 2005 but i have a copy of vista that can go on. And no i haven't ripped any of them yet about 300 at last count not including hd and bluray! so a good program to do that aswell would be good.

Re: My new living Room install

Hi mate,

If you can, take a read of 'elootos' thread 'Completed Vista Media Center install in false chimney breast (another one!)'. I think he covers all the questions that you want answered.

And here is a link to the part I think you want:
Vista Media Center in false chimney breast, and other continuing work...

Just scroll down to #40 (Just after the 12th picture)

Hope this helps...

Re: My new living Room install

Few more pics as the install reaches it's final stages including the cornice work with blue rope light hidden and white leds in. All lights can be switched on via the side of the tv and the strip lighting can be programed to change colour or stay via a button on the front. The other ones show the glass and various equipment shots. Still looking for someone in the northants area to install it all properly. Not bad with a screwdriver but the tech stuff not good

Also please ignore the Scart lead as my HD box is knackered!!! so as needs must the old sky + went in whilethe hd box was being repaired. Have also realised with not thinking that the living room light has to go....

Re: My new living Room install

I doesn't cause that many problems due to the fact nothing is setup. Making mental note that sometime this week i will sit down and read the bloody manual for the amp and try and get it all working myself.
