Re: LED lighting
LED lighting is the future - but at the moment it's only really suitable for "decorative" purposes rather than providing useful light. A few suppliers can be found on Archisearch - http://www.archisearch.co.uk/

Re: LED lighting
Have you considered using Duralight?
I'm sure that's what I will end up using.

Re: LED lighting
LED's are currently only good for decorative lighting as the output from them is no where near as good as a conventional fillament lamp. This is unliekly to change either as the wavelength of light from an LED means that the light coul dbecome damaging to the eye if the LED were any brighter.
The main issue is that whilst they look nice and bright when you look directly at them, the light falls off quite quickly.

Re: LED lighting
I agree that the blue spectrum light that current white LEDs emit is thought to be a problem in that it can be damaging to the eyes. However there is some work going on to get round the problem - e.g. http://www.vanderbilt.edu/news/releases?id=22603

Re: LED lighting
There are some LED lights that are on the market that are bright enough to be used as main, task lighting, LEDs are now produced and used in street lighting, 10Watt LEDs are used in MR16 and GU10 products.
Some example of recent products and applications used at home include my kitchen. Its small at 3x3m but I run just 6 GU10 LED Bulbs, no fluro, no halogen, no other source and only use 15W of power.
I have used flexible RGB colour changing LED mounted to the underside of my father-in-laws kitchen base units, wired to a wireless RGB controller to give single colour or fade.
Security light size/style fixtures which use LEDs to flood the front of house for haloween, using just 9 watts.
Single LEDs mounted in to the side of wooden stairs to give just enough light to see the treads without having any lights on, all using around 1/4 watt.
Cuttable LED strips used to back light display cabinets.
Full RGB DMX controllable MR16 and floor lights with RGB colour changing pelmets and shelving.
There are more design possibilities using LEDs than standard lighting.
This Christmas we shall also be using just LED lighting for our decorations with an plan to use less than 50% than previous years.
If you have any questions about LEDs, configuring, using, purchasing, sourcing, recommendation then I would be more than pleased to offer advice.
Simon

Re: LED lighting
Hi Simon, can I ask where you got the flexible RGB leds from for the under cupboard lighting and how much they cost as I am looking for a similar solution
