Solid Wall and Scart Cables....
Hi everyone,
First time poster, long time visitor for advice!!
I am about to Wall mount my TX32LXD70, and am going to put my Sky Box and DVD Player on the opposite side of the (solid) wall in the space which once upon a time was my understairs cupboard and is now an open space with a coat rack etc (so ventilation isnt a problem!).
There is power there already, so literally all I have to do is run the TV Power Cable and two scarts through and a small bit of coax for the magic eye to the sky box.(No coax for the aerial, i dont use terrestrial through the aerial)
So here lies my question. How the hell do I get the scarts through? Is the only way to make the cables up myself? I have seen these detachable plug jobs, but they are compsite only, not RGB.
Anyone got any wise words to help me out!?!
Thanks in advance
Paul

Re: Solid Wall and Scart Cables....
Make a bigger hole!!! Get a scart lead where you can take the plugs apart so that the bit you need to fit through the hole is smaller in the first place - or you can solder them up if you want but it isn't much fun....

Didn't realise that you can get the plugs apart on some cables, mine don't do that!! Is it fairly common that the plugs dismantle, or have I just got crap cables?
I appreciate the bigger hole argument, but drilling a cable size hole is one thing, a scart size hole is quite another!!! Don't want my bedroom to colapse into my living room just because i was trying to make my cables tidy!!
Thanks for your advice

Re: Solid Wall and Scart Cables....
It actually tends to be the cheaper cables that you can take apart, leaving only some soldered connections onto the internal metal bit, more expensive ones tend to be sealed, but it is possible to find decent ones that come apart and as such go quite small - if you are running four cables through a hole this hole won't be far off what you need to get one of these through

Blimey, maybe my cables arent as poor as i thought!! I've been looking and some cables appear to unscrew at the plug. Would these be the ones that dismantle? If so, fully wired gold ones would be a reasonably good bet?
Thanks again.

Re: Solid Wall and Scart Cables....
The quickest, and easiest bet would be to drill a hole, just hire a Core Drill for the day, it should cost you less than £10 and it would be done in 5 mins.... HEY PRESTO... job done...... you could always buy a brush faceplate to tidy the hole !!

I'd love to do that, but it is a solid wall so I don't want to be making holes any bigger than I have to. Like I said above, I don't want my bedroom falling in my living room just for the sake of a couple of tidy cables!

Re: Solid Wall and Scart Cables....
It's a solid wall, I wouldn't panic too much, unless you are making a really really big hole, then you'd need a lintel or an RSJ - how do you think windows get put in?

Re: Solid Wall and Scart Cables....
Your other alternative is of course a hammer and chisel. The scart plug isn't massive, so you can chisel the edge of a brick and the mortar. It's a bit more labour intensive than a core drill of course!
You might find it easiest to get scart leads through with the cable "straight-on" as opposed to being at right angles to the plug, if you know what I mean.
