Welcome to 'The Moneypit'
Hi everybody
This has been a long time coming, a long Summer of putting our house up for sale, finding a new place, losing a sale, a poor solicitor Etc..... Anyhow, we Moved into our dream home on November 8th (Another long story but tonight we are finally on broadband via Vodaphone, as BT Can't decide wether we can have a Broadband line till 31st Decemebr ), and this is where the story starts, the title of the thread should give you an idea, we did purchase this lovely old property knowing it was in need of a bit of 'doing up' but we are virtually starting from scratch in each room as we go along (as each room falls apart , our first task, getting priorities right , even though the house has been bodged up and requires a new kitchen, a new bathroom, a new boiler and Oil tank, utility & wc ripping out and altering around, the rest of the house 'modernised' the outside re-landscaping Etc... Etc... My wife agreed that i should start with the Livingroom/Home Cinema so after a long day at work, and an evening or weekend day doing DIY, that we would deserve a sit down and relax in a finished room
So here we go...... I Moved most of my gear from the old house, all nicely boxed in the original packing - which makes for fun unpacking like new again after their storage.... i left the old PJ Screen and cables up for our purchaser, so have had to Order a new screen, new lighting, new cables (Av to PJ and plasma Etc..) we are installing TV to all rooms via a 'Loftbox', this time we are installing Network points to all rooms (Just hope i can get Broadband now ) We have only had 3 days on a couple of weekends so far due to general unpacking Erc.... so only got a bit to show.... when my 'connection' can upload the blinkin pics :
All comments welcome as usual, please be gentle as i am new to alot of these things
Deano............

Deano! extremely glad to hear you've moved in. Look forward to see / hear the experience from friend Refurb is a pain!
Luckily you have textured ceiling, which is a good reason to rip that down for PJ / downlights and other necessary wiring.
Good luck mate!

Re: Welcome to 'The Moneypit'
Right..... Here we go then......
Me and Jo (the wife) decided.... well i decided, that i was this time going to build a pelmet to house the PJ screen into (as most of you seem to have done ) and that i would put some lighting behind them..... i worked out a line infront of the Chimney breast that would tie in with a joist to Fix the Screen onto but also to have a 1" gap between the lowered screen and the plasma..... I hope
I then decided that maybe a lighting pelmet/box should continue around the perimeter of the room/s that i could also use to house the cables for the projector etc.... (And leave less 'artex' to skim out.....) so my top man 'Richard' and i made a cardboard template to gauge the size of boxing required..... we settled for 6" x 6" which fits in very nicely with the low voltage lighting i found at my local wholesaler (cheers Paul).......
So 'Rich' set about marking out for the Lighting Pelmet.... Overlooked by mr Spider
