Skirting board

Does anyone have any good ideas about a skirting board which allows for me to run cables behind it without interferring with the walls?

All ideas welcomed.

Re: Skirting board

2 options i though of

standard skirting, get a router and route a channel along the back of the skirting. screw onto the wall as opposed to nailing and you'll be able to pop on and off as required.

or, what i went with

small trunking along the top of the skirting, painted the same color as the walls. can't be seen unless you look for it, check out my sig below for examples, or i can take more if you need

Re: Skirting board

G'day Ivor... if your talking about reversable skirting then you may be able to use one of the Ovolo reversable's.

Either side of a reversable skirting can be placed against the wall. Using the Ovolo side against the wall may give you enough room. I guess it all depends upon how many cables your using and the diameter of the cable.

Re: Skirting board

Have a look at this site

http://www.kentplastics.com/SkirtingBoards.html

They have skirting trunking and also they have a skirting board cover system (this is what we bought) It fits over your existing skirting board and provides a nice recess for cables. Never needs painting and is bash proof.

Re: Skirting board

You have either http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Ind...ing_Pvc_Index/
or http://www.gwsupplies.co.uk/electric...g+trunking.htm or even http://www.findtheneedle.co.uk/produ...g-trunking.asp

I have been told you can have wood finish also.

cheap option: I have seen in my local dealer shop that they have put a normal skirting board that they have push 5cm out and put a piece of wood on top to close the gap on top. it works quite well too.

Hope this helps.

Re: Skirting board

You could always put down some electrical conduit first and then sit your normal skirting on top of that.....when the carpets laid it'll hide most of the conduit.
