Chase screen power to plug, or chase new spur to plasma?

Hi all,

I'm deciding how to connect the power to my plasma which will soon be on a freshly plastered wall. I am deciding whether to chase the kettle lead from the plasma down to the power socket, or to run a spur off from the power socket and up behind the plasma. What is best practice and is there anything wrong with the first option. I'm only asking as it will, in my mind, be easier to to run the kettle lead to a socket than having to chop out another box behind the plasma and fix a junction box off the existing power socket. Should it be a fused spur? Finally, what is considered to be a safe distance between the power/mains cable and all other cables?

Thanks.

Re: Chase screen power to plug, or chase new spur to plasma?

I ran a fused all the way to a junction box above the telly ( its in the pelmet), cut the plug off the end of the plasma lead and wired the lead into the junction box.

If you look at my signature you'll see pictures etc.

( I think some of the pictures show a double gang socket in the pelmet, this was replaced with a junction box).
