Taz69's Home Cinema/Lounge at last!!!

Hi all, well after having my plasma stuck on my wall for nearly 2 years, I have finally got around to start my home cinema/lounge.

Unfortunately due to my HD dying I have lost the pictures of what my lounge looked like beforehand but from the pictures you can get the general idea, firebreast in centre of wall with recess' either side one with a window.

I have built a frame around the firebreast to allow my 42PV500 to be sank in the wall with access for cables, also spaces for Left/Right and Centre speakers.

The lower picture shows how I hid the cables on my previous glass stand, Avebury from Argos, this no longer fits in the recess now, lol.

At this moment I am sorting the lighting out along with power for my new Screen which is covered by a lower ceiling, this has mulitple advantages as I had a major crack on the right had side of the ceiling which is now covered up. Great!

So hopefully you will enjoy the pictures. I am also trying to sort out my kit storage on the right hand side but yet to find something that actually feels right.

Thanks

Mark

updated pictures

Hi all, I have uploaded some recent pictures after installing the 1st set of lights from Ikea.

If anyone has any suggestions what to use in the recess for my kit, reply away.

Its different when I am doing this for my customers, like the wife says "it would have been done by now" lol, my answer "yeah but they are paying me" lol.

Re: Taz69's Home Cinema/Lounge at last!!!

Decisions Decisions,

Do I go for a 1:2 HDMI splitter and provide HDMI to both the Plasma and PJ or HDMI to PJ and Component to Plasma or vice versa, any suggestions.

I was faced with this decision and decided to for a 3:2 HDMI matrix switch from Joe ( tmfsolutions). It cuts down on the number of the runs, although I have two to the PJ ( VGA and HDMI) and 3 (S-Video, HDMI and VGA) to the plasma.

Looking good so far, and your right about the wifes comment

PS If you watch sports, American Series ( Lost, 24 etc) or Movies ( This can be bypassed with a blu-ray / HDDVD drive) I definitely recommend getting SKY HD.

Re: Taz69's Home Cinema/Lounge at last!!!

Hi Cy, thanks for the comments,

My Pioneer amp does all my switching, at the moment I have HDMI going to my TV and did have a Mark Grant Component cable going to the old Projector.

I am looking at adding VGA to the PJ for future use, just not sure if to go for a matrix aswell or stick to HDMI & Component feeds even if I swap them around so the TV is on component.

Re: Taz69's Home Cinema/Lounge at last!!!

Right chaps, I now need to go for a 1:2 HDMI Splitter, not sure what I was thinking but how did I even think that an incoming HDMI signal would output via Component, lol.

So now looking for a good deal on a 1:2 splitter if anyone knows of one.

At the moment build has slowed down while I sort power for screen etc, need to sort out some sort of box for the Ikea LED lights aswell so they are tidy.

More Pictures soon, should be able to start some plastering tonight/tomorrow morning, then can put some colour on the wall, lovely Black I hope its lovely, my wife has took some convincing of this, lol.

Mark,

All coming on well, looking forward to some photos of the AX-200 in action.

Can you post the id of the ebayer who sold you the screen?

Cheers
