Cables through outside wall?

I'm planning on mounting my Tosh 42X3030 over a hole-in-the-wall fire place at about 1.1m above floor level.

As it is an outside wall I thought it would be easiest to drill through (avoiding the chimney), run the cables in conduit and then back in behind the component cabinet.

Has anyone who has tried this got any tips?
What cables should I allow for? (2xHDMI, 2xScart?, +power)
How do you get a big scart plug through a small hole?!
Is it worth using fancy socket plates?

an age old question with no prefect solution, best bed is avoid scart if possible

If you look at post #224 in this Home Cinema Construction: day by day diary with pics. you can see how an adaptor is being used to solve the chunky scart lead issue.

Not sure if you'll lose quality over a chunky scart cable tho - you'll have to experiment.

Thanks chaps. I think I have an idea to avoid going through the wall or chasing out my lovely new plaster, and that is to run a 'floating' shelf (concealed brackets) just above the TV and across the full width of the room - when I post some pics it will make more sense. I can then hide the cables in conduit above the shelf which should be just above eye level so hopefully will look fine...I promise to post pics soon :D
