Bedroom Remodel - Help and Advice Needed

I've finally decided to take the plunge and remodel my bedroom to give me more space and help me get the most out of my AV setup.

My current setup, for reference:

Samsung LE27T5, Yamaha AV-595 Amp with NSP-110 speakers and sub, and a 360 for gaming and DVD playback. Nothing huge but it does the job, although the upgrade bug has hit already for new speakers :P

My room is 3m x 3.5m (10ft x 11.5ft roughly) so it's not huge, and with the amount of furniture in here at the moment it feels even smaller. Along with the Ikea AV stand (which will be going) I have a king size bed, a rather large but awkward desk and a long sideboard which I use for the few clothes I have and the rest are full of crap and college supplies (graphic design student so I have more sketchbooks, pens and paper than you can shake some big trees at!), all of the furniture will be going and in place of it will be a 4ft bed (slightly smaller than a double), a custom desk and the cupboard just out of shot in the above photo will be used as storage for my clothes, also on the list of things to chuck in the room is a rather sizable Lazyboy recliner, the Colorado[/img].

After boring most of you to death by now it's time to launch into the remodelled room idea as shown in Sketchup :P

As a side note, the blue/red box is the place holder for the recliner, blue is its position normally and red is the extra bit taken up when full reclined.

I have a few questions and would love to hear some suggestions for other bits as well.

Speaker placement is a bit of a concern, my plan is to use the recliner for 95% of tv watching and gaming so obviously that needs to be the sweet spot however I'm not sure as to where to place the speakers to get the best out of them, I can easily mount them flat on the wall (they have telephone style screw+slot holes on the back) but thats of no use for the front left speaker as there isn't anything behind it and I'd rather not buy mounts for them as an upgrade to bookshelfs for the fronts is on the cards sometime this year. Any ideas?

As you can see on the sketchup plans, to the left of the recliner is a bit of dead space, I have no idea what to do with it, the gap between the recliner and the edge of the desk is about 30cm so doors are a no go, but I would like to use the space for something. It was suggested I go for containers on wheels but to me its a bit... tacky. I considered maybe shelving for college work although space is a bit awkward it's probably the only thing I can do with it, any thoughts?

The desk will be a selfbuild job, gonna go up to the local timber yard and get two lengths of wood (not sure yet, probably pine and stain it quite dark) and then cut out a section (or get the yard to do it we'll see) and then build in a lightbox. With a small kitchen unit (cabinet carcass) for my Mac and the mass of chargers and 360 bits and bobs, under the desk.

My final question is about colour, I am leaning towards a dark brown for the TV wall and light brown/cream/stone for the other three, or the two side walls and have the window wall in the dark brown as well, any suggestions on exact paints? I was going to get specific colours mixed but I don't know how close they can get, if I were to go in with RGB or Pantone colours would they get it bang on?

If you got this far well done, have a cookie :D

Thanks for the help in advance.
