Discreet speaker terminal outlet?

I’m currently chasing in speaker cables for my 5.1 surround system.

I’m trying to find an appropriate speaker terminal to plug my speakers in to. Ideally I would like to use a terminal that could be hidden discreetly behind my satellite speakers.

All I can find are wall plates with 2 x banana sockets that fit a standard single BS back box (750mm x 750mm) -

http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Wall_plate_C...all_plates.htm

A 750mm x750mm plate is a bit excessive for just 2 banana sockets. Ideally I would like to use something half that size

Dose anyone know of a smaller alternative?

Thanks.

as has been stated in these forums before try using what are known as architrave blanking plates which are half the width of usual plates, see here http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MKK3825.html
simply drill them to fit connectors of your choice, be that 4mm sockets or even speakons

Re: Discreet speaker terminal outlet?

could you use the speaker binding posts on car subwoofer boxes and sink them flush with the wall.it might look cool and ive never seen it done before.im sure you can get really small ones aswell and you can paint them to match your room.

do you mean this sort of thing? coz if you do they are 74 mm in diameter and not a lot smaller than a standard elec blank plate with 4mm binding posts

Re: Discreet speaker terminal outlet?

With a similar issue, I avoided plates altogether and simply routed the wires out of the wall behind the speaker. Speakers are Celestion egg-type speakers that have a hole through the centre that I fed the wires through. Looks pretty neat.
