Bass traps & wall colour?

Hi i have just bought some Bass traps from Auralex, have not yet installed them problem is my room is cream the traps are Charcol, the other half is already furious with my latest purchase (bass traps) these will be going in the Lounge.

My dilema is that they look like a sore thumb, I was thinking of painting the room Black/Ice Storm but I sure she will go mad!!, what colour can you sugest or have tried which is aceptable? bearing in mind this is not a dedicated room even though I use it as on.
