Advice on filling in / smoothing holes in the wall

All our walls have been replastered and painted recently.

I need to remove the wall bracket of one of the tvs and re-mount it with a new adjustable wall mount.

Can anyone recommend / advise me as to the best way to fill and smooth the 6 large holes I am going to have in my wall!

The new holes for the new bracket will be in the centre of the exisitng holes as the base for the bracket is much smaller so I need to make sure it is done properly and wont be noticeable as the area will be clearly visible.

Poke paper in the holes half - three quarters of the way. Force some regular filler in them using a proper filler knife, smooth it off to surface with knife and let it set hard. It will probably have shrunk so fill again to surface with a fine filler, let it set, sand off with light grade paper then close your eyes and rub your hand over it, if you can feel a bump, sand more, feel a dip then fill more. Repeat until your happy. Then paint the repairs, if still noticable then rolll the whole wall.
