I want to install an LCD TV on Chimney breast in a spare bedroom upstairs. The fire place is blocked up on this breast. I want to drop the power and coax cable through the breast down to the opening (this fire place is open, but no working fire is present) in the living room. I can then connect a NTL receiver in the spare bedroom. My problem is the flue for downstairs isnt directly behind where the TV is going to be mounted. It is to the left of where the TV will be mounted. Chasing the cables isnt an option as the Chimney breast has very expensive wall paper on it!! How do I go about getting the cables to fall down the flue downstairs??
The problem i have is that if i drill straight into the breast upstairs and drop the cables stright in, it will just fall onto the floor of where the fireplace used to be in the spare room. I have looked up into the breast from downstairs and the flue for downstairs runs to the left of the breast for upstairs.
What i might do is drill straight behind the screen and drop the cables into the breast. Then I will try to get access to the cables form the side of the breast. I have got a vent on the side of the breast that I am going to try and use as access. Behind the vent is bricks before I can get to the opening of the fire. I could drill through these bricks to get to the opening of the fire but what could i use to grab the cables and pull them through??
