Your own 20th Century Fox into

Ever wanted to see your own theater name come up at the start of your film, instead of 20th century fox, your own personalised message???

Not sure if you guys have seen this before, but I've followed the tutorial at the following thread :

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=715166

Make sure you download Blender 2.37a, not the newest version, should take half an hour or so to do the logo, plus about 10hrs to render the actual intro. Add the sound and hey presto!.....

Check the attached image, to see it moving with the spotlights and swooping camera is quite something!

Follow that with the pearl and Dean intro (the old one) and ooooh yeah......

*** I've put some simple steps to follow on page 2 if you got problems - READ THEM BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!!**

If you want to see mine in action, go here and click the wilson fanfare (it's 21 meg but takes a second or two if on broadband).... :

And the pearl & Dean intro is there also at

Re: Your own 20th Century Fox into

I had one done too, and modified it so that it faded out at the end (and added the 5.1 Fox fanfare). The first time I used it on the pj I used it as the intro to the movie we were going to watch (on the htpc) so it all blended seemlessly together. Reaper certainly has made a great feature available and is worth a donation IMHO.

Re: Your own 20th Century Fox into

I have one too - just printed a still of it to frame and hang in the entrance to my HC. There's a thread started recently which walks you through creating your own including putting in your own text here. Not tried it myself yet, but would give you a bit more flexibility and lessen the load on Reaper.

Wilders, great find! Did you have to change any render settings? I had a go last night and left it rendering, but when I viewed it this morning I have a lot of flickering going on in certain areas of the frame. Yours is so much cleaner.

I should mention that I couldn't get it to work at all with 2.37a, and had to download blender 2.42 (as indicated in the original instructions.

regards

Yes I saw reaper's post a while back and created my own.
Thanks for the Pearl and Dean clip though. I've been thinking about using that for a while now.

Apparently there have been problems with the original (reaper) blender files and the 2.42 version and flickering. I used the 2.37a version and it worked fine. Have you tried the instructions from the new thread I posted below? Thre seem to be quite a few people who have got it to work.

This might sound really thick but im assuming this will only work when using a pc to play your movies.

Re: Your own 20th Century Fox into

The only settings I changed was set it to NTSC, AVI RAW then hit animate, thats it!

I too got flickering with the 2.42, only worked well with the 2.37a version of blender.

Suggest you try downloading blender again 2.37a for windows, both versions should work, but as you said, 2.37a is the only one without the flickering shading. What wouldnt work?

Theres another thread by reaper where there is also a lot of help :

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...7&page=1&pp=30

but blazer's tutorial is a good one, easy to follow, link in my 1st post.

Also, you can burn this as a dvd, but htpc is best so you can use say theatertek to play the p&d into, then your fox one, then your dvd, all seemlessly.....

Re: Your own 20th Century Fox into

OK

Having read the original thread a bit more thoroughly it seems there are problems with blender and AVI cards, so I've now tried it on a different PC with an nVidia card and it's fine, and so much faster.

thanks all

Hi, no you could stick it onto a DVD, although you'll then have to switch discs (unless you have a second DVD player). I'm planning to use it on the front of a DVD I'm editing at the moment, so I'll just add it as an extra chapter, or as a first play.

Re: Your own 20th Century Fox into

Also, when finished rendering, to add the fox fanfare music, I used ulead, simple to add the fox music and also fade out at the end...

By the way, remember (like I forgot to twice) to set AVI RAW when rendering or you end up with 600 stills!!!!

Sequential stills however have the big advantage that you can start / stop renders or render selected ranges as you wish. You can even distribute rendering across a number of workstations.

So it's not as daft as it sounds

Re: Your own 20th Century Fox into

OK for anyone else having problems with this here's my findings.

Originally tried V2.37a
Couldn't load blend file - "Invalid Read Error"

Changed to V2.42a
Opened fine, edited fine but gave flickering on render.

Only way I could get it to work was save the edited file from V2.42a, then re-install V2.37a and open and render from there. That result was perfect.
