Any views on colour schemes?

Hi All,

Today I started my mini home cinema room in earnest. It consists of a small back bedroom which was previously full of junk and not really decorated.

This morning I cleared it all out and the rest of the day (up until now) was spent doing the new lighting - which I am pleased to say is now finished. I fitted 6 in ceiling halogen spotlights and a center light with 3 spots on it to point at posters. The whole lot cost me less than £70 including a two gang remote dimmer.

I think it looks brilliant. Its so bright at full power I reckon you can get a suntan but when you dim the lights my god how cool does it look.

Up until now I have thought of trying to make the room as close to a real cinema as possible. So was thinking of dark blue walls - dark grey ceiling(?) So far I'm unsure of this cos at present the walls are a kind of magnolia and it looks awesome with the new lights.

Should I try to go authentic and make it an inherently dark room or go with the brighter look?

Brighter is easier in my opinion cos then I don't have the dilema of what the hell colour to paint the woodwork. decisions decisions

Anybody ever gone for the dark look?

Batteries are on charge as we speak. Forgot to take before photos as well which is slightly annoying.

Please bear in mind that this is a very small room so difficult to get decent photos. Could do with a fish eye lens ;-)

Three are lit by the spots and with no flash. The others are with flash and the spots are not on. Pretty obvious which are which.

I'll do some better ones tomorrow. Too knackered right now to be arsed anymore and on my second can of beer.


Shame I don't have one of those cameras that estate agents use! If I did my room would look the size of Alaska!
