depends what type of building it is really, i live in a victorian house and my ceilings are 12ft high, some new builds might be 10ft, some slightly less, some higher.
could you be a bit more specific, i.e. what would you be looking to install and at what height? or are you looking for the general dimensions of most people's home cinema rooms?

Are you sure? I don't think I have 2 metres head room in any room in our house.
A minimum head clearence is going to depend very much on whos head the clearence is measured from.

My living room and kitchen have a clearance of 6 feet 5 inches. It's an old cottage with a beamed ceiling. Previous owners had the floor lowered several inches, so originally it would have been just over 6 feet.
People were a lot shorter 200 years ago.

You can make the room as low as you like - but remember you need to be able to open a door to get into the room and usually this is 1987mm high.
The 2000mm rule is for stairs leading to loft conversions only, (this can actually go down to 1900mm at a push with your building control officer).

There is no longer any limit for ceiling height under the building regs, it really comes down to practicalities. The only minimum is 2m for stairs and landings.
As already posted, the minimum practical height would perhaps be the same as a typical modern door frame - 1.981m

Staircases are special as it is easy to bang your head and fall down the flight, especially if running down to escape a fire or such like. The dimension is specified in the approved documents and other texts, and its difficult to prove that anything less than 2m is safe for a staircase. Rooms are different.
