I am wanting to put a box of some sort into the main room of my home cinema close to the seating that has sockets for various connections, such as VGA, component and composite for video and phono/digital coax for audio plus a few USB ports and an ethernet port. These can then be used when people want to come around and plug in their MP3 players/camera etc. without having to drag all of the equipment out. If you look in the plans on my web site in the sig, you'll see that all of the kit is in a small room off the main cinema room. Although I wired in for all of the speakers/projector etc, this has been an afterthought

, so the cables will need to be run through a channel in the (concrete) floor. The cables will go into the various aux inputs on my amp.
Has anyone done this before? I've seen various wall plates for the sockets, but might be better off making my own due to the number of connections. I was thinking of having a hollow metal tube about 2 foot in height from the floor which would have the connection plate(s) on the top with a flip-over cover to keep out the dirt/inquisitive fingers).
Seems like it should be relatively straight-forward, but would appretiate advice on any potential gotchas.
Rich.
