suggestions needed for Plasma install please
Hiya all
I am trying to decide where to mount my 42PV500, my lounge is a long shaped room of 12' by 17' approx, the fire breast is in the middle as seen in the picture (P1), this was where I was going to mount the TV above first of all, now my brother has thrown in the suggestion of mounting it in the alcove to the right of the breast (P2)on a frame made up from 4"x2" timber etc with all my kit behind the plasma at the bottom, I can sort out the control etc via IR,
What I am wondering is due to the fact that I would like to retain a projector and screen possibly, does the centre speaker need to be in the centre of the visual ie under the PV500 and the PJ screen or is possible to connect 2 centres via a switch box.
Any suggestions welcome, where would you mount the TV.
Thanks in advance

suggestions needed for Plasma install please
nice to see another lfc fan i would have the plasma above the fireplace but be warned of the heat from the fire but if you dont use it theres nothing to worry about then have all your gear next to it in the alcove then if you have a pj screen have that coming over you tv that what im doing as long as you donrt sit too close you will be fine or you might get neck ache show pictures when done

What's to the Right of the picture, is it a large window opposite the sofa on the left, or is it an internal wall?
I would go for putting the screen in the centre of the wall (i.e. above fireplace) so if you have surround speakers, the setup would be easier.
If it is a large window on the right, you may need to worry about light flooding the screen (especially the PJ), unless you have some good curtains

Hi DJ, it is a large window about 2mtr wide, that was one of the things my bro said about the glare from the window, its looking like the centre of the room is favourite, I have lined curtains and I was thinking about Black Vertical blinds but have been having trouble sourcing them from online.

Hi people, I have added 2 pictures to the first post this is of the actual lounge, 1 with the bracket where the plasma was the other with a sheet of 18mm ply fixed to the alcove to show my wife what it will look like, the plasma will be fitted to this if I go that way.
Any opinions ??

Hi chap, its not that high, to the base of the plasma its only 905mm the hole for the fire is only small, looks decieving from the photo.

I personally would put it above the fireplace as personally i think it will look strange in the corner. Where are you planning on putting your centre speaker?

Hi chap, I am thinking of the centre speaker below the plasma in the centre so when I decide to put the screen down for the pj it will still be on view, the other idea I just had was putting all the kit on the wall opposite the long window, and the pj mounted above the curtains, any ideas on what height the PJ should be ?? anyone

Sounds fine to me, the screen will then come down over the plasma; what PJ are you thinking of getting as that may determine the height.

Thats what I was thinking making things easier for screen etc, at the moment it will be the AE100, may well be the AE900 soon. any ideas on what height the screen should come down to, I am looking at the Beamax R series, 6ft or maybe the 7ft one.
Thanks
Taz

As low as you can get it (5- 600mm from the floor?)- it's your neck
