TV Lift Build Help needed. Thanks.

TV Lift Build Help needed. Thanks.

Ive got an 86cm CRT TV. And its my HTPC TV. Its in my loungeroom and its being used as my PC and my Movies ect TV

Thats why i need to be able to raise the TV. On the weekends i like to do some gaming and the Tv just is not at eye level for games and or normal pc work. So i need some way to rais the pc easily up and down and put it the height i want it when i need it.

The tv is 75kgs heavy so its a big mother of a TV. Ill post some pics of it. At the moment ive got some planks of wood under it to raise it alittle. Its fine for movies but want it higher for PC work and games.

I would like the lift to be invisible as much as possible. Ive got some ideas. Somthing with gears is what iam thinking.

Thanks for any help.

Heres a pic

Thanks for any coments. Also i think my Home cinema setup is pretty good as well. Have 5.1 Surround sound speakers as well. On my own rear build stands.

Why dont you just move the tv to a higher lever at all times? a new unit possibly?

You need to use linear actuators.

Build a sliding rack using heavy duty drawer sliders from www.screwfix.com

The get youself a linear actuator from www.crd-devices.co.uk

This will lift the weight no problems.. and the drawer sliders will keep everything in line.

Amit could you dome a favour and do me alittle scetch

I looked at those drawer slides and this one seems to be the stongest. Not sure it would be sutible as iam not sure how it looks when together. I was thinking of putting four in the build one at each corner to take the weight. Slould be more than enough for a 75kg TV. being 40 kg capable each

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...6338&ts=71733#

And as they can be also screwed in on the bottom extra stability. All i would then need is to make a holding craddle for the TV to connect the other part of the slide to. So the tv can then be raised up and down. Hopfully via a remote control. Corded or other wise. Well thats what iam thinking i could have this all wrong.

Would be nice if you could do alittle scetch for me to push me int he right design dirrection.

With the Acuator i would need some help their to. not sure where i could put that !!!!

Also dont know which one i would need either ?

Thanks for the help and more help if ya like

Thanks.

From what i have seen i might need two of them on the sides to raise the TV. Ive seem them in cabinates that raise. I think plasmas. Not sure if they are usign two or not. But two i think would be needed as one would be hard as it sjust lifting the one side.

Though with a metal brace i think it might be possible, but not recomended

Hope i can find one in my Country Australia with a wireless remote. iam sure i can find the drawer slides. But putting it together might be beyond me. Fun trying though. Ill just gets some bricks or somthing heavy to try it out beforei put my TV anywhere near it

I love this forum. I only wish i had a big enough room to build a great Home Cinema. Nice projector snazzy lights. But alas iam a Flat/Unit non big room, 2nd floor owning guy

Next place i buy will be HUGE.

Thanks.

Heres a sketch.

Use these sliders http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/...26889&id=55282

These will hold every thing in place as the central rail slides inside ball bearings to make it nice and smooth.

Have a look at the sketch. I have done a top down view and side view. The grey bits in each corner are the sliders. The black thing in the middle is an actuator.

Basically make a wooden cube that sits inside a wooden ring. The sliders attach the two together and the central cube will slide out of the wooden ring.

The actuator goes in the centre and pushes against the floor and the top of the cube.

Thats exactly what you want to do.. just need to make the top plate wider and sit your TV on it.. not in it

A decent actuator should be able to lift 75Kg

Problem.

My tv is on an Entertainment unit and i dont want to drill any holes in it or anything.

Also the back is pretty wide. So where do i put the acuator. On the back and lift the Tv like a forklift. or on the bottom which it wont work in my case and push up ?

This is the tv iam trying to lift.

http://www.castel.com.au/toshiba/Pro...ctCode=36JW9UA

Dimensions (W x H x D)mm 856 x 624 x 596

The picture on the website LIES. Its alot longer than that/ 596mm in fact.

Iam just not seeing this working with an Acuator. I see the rest the box and the rails ect. That would work fine. But actally lifting the thing is the problem

Or am i not seeing this as it should be ??

Thanks for the help.
