Plasma install - False chimney breast

the result i'm looking for is something between this Finally finished - V40 Wall
and
My new plasma wall . . .

both of which are outstanding and a credit to those two guys.......

3. Build frame myself, or let my joiner friend do it.. Also, pull up some chipwood floor boards to lay my speaker cables etc ......

oh boy, would you like to rip those floor boards up (and add a bit of sound proofing to boot ) ??

Ok, today, i decided to fit the bracket - by Unicol.

Went the Resin fixing way, instead of sleeve anchors (we use this stuff at work, well, the maintainance guys do, they anchor industrial machines and cranes to the floor, so, hopefully, it will hold my plasma)

Got a shock when i started to drill, as it was like a hot knife in butter - on further inspection, i was drilling into thermalite !!! After panacking a while, i jumped on the forums and searched thermalite, and, alls well, i'm using the fixing method recommended for this stuff.... (still scared, i continued drilling, and added two extra fixings, so 6 instead of the 4, as you can see in the attached photo's, didnt get the bracket bang on, but only 5 mm out of the intended horizontal posistion, not bad if i say so myself)

Finally got some boards up, Check out the Joists, sure dont make em like they used to, but, makes the job a hell of a lot easier, now wheres my drill ????

How is it going DJ. Decided on how far you are going to go yet.
Lifting floorboards will not be a problem for you. Plenty of people on here
will give you ways and means.
As for making your own false breast, I have never made one.

Maybe there is someone in HERE who can help you, if you are local to them.

no, my bracket did not show up, marked out the wall, and ready to lift some boards wednesday..

been on shift at work, and my son turned 21 saturday......

yes, looks like i'll be doing it, as my mate can only do evenings, and he wants me to be there...... i aint doing owt when i've just done a twelve hour shift !!!!!!!

You could also get him to check it before you fix it all into it's final position.

Sorry for delays in updates, but due to a new (Large) Mortgage, and the chance of lots of overtime, things got put on the back burner.

I've continued with setting the cables under the floorboards - Heres a photo of pulling the Sky+ Coax through the Dot & Dab Walling.

!. Drill 25MM Exit hole - Using 25MM Wood Bit (I'll fit a nice exit bush of some sort to complete, may even use a washer glued in place)

2, Drop string (In this case, some QED Micro cable from my previous system, I KNEW it would come in handy some day) down through wall till it exits under floorboards.

Hope this helps someone with a future install.

Hi all, been a while, heres an update (sure to sadden a few followers here)

I decided to abandon the false chimney idea for a few reasons, heres a couple :-

1. Decided it would eat too much into the room (4.6 X 4.3 mtr) and i'd have to have my speakers closer to me than i'd like, and also cause complications with furniture
2. Was worried about a hallow space and the affect on sound.
3. This way is a lot easier (although i hope i dont have to do it again for a while, way too much hassle)

P.S.

One of the things i've noticed about a lot of installs while viewing various install threads here, is how close to the wall, and no toeing in of the speakers, photo's of mine to follow, i'm just completing the install of my kit, sofa on order, and blinds/curtains to order......
