making kit rack - any advice?

Hi there.

I am thinking of making a tv/kit rack for my 32" crt and various av components.

i realise it needs to be very sturdy to eliminate vibrations. It will be of wooden construction to match other furniture, and i was thinking of having toughened glass for the shelves.

I will spike the feet.

Is there anything elso you can add to make it perform as good as possible.?

Probably worth making the shelves adjustable to accomodate anything else that you might get in the future and how about some hidden security features for when you go on holiday?

I'm not sure about the best way to implement anything like that as it will depend on the design but certainly worth thinking about IMO.

jimk04 - did you get anymore advice or have you made it yet? I am in the process of designing a cabinet and want to make sure it's right.

good advice eviljohn, will try to design those features in!

i havent started yet, hairloss. my biggest worry is what thickness of glass to use for the shelves. can do without 50kg of tv crashing down on my amp and dvd player!

I had a 32" Sony CRT tv on top and it was fine.
