Exclamation Space behind cavity walls. is it big enough??

Hi People,

Taking on the task of hanging my 32" LCD TV on my living room wall this weekend. The house is only 2 years old and has cavity walls. my question is.. If i was to hide the cabling within the cavity, is there enough space (width) for scart leads, power lead & speaker cables??? Sorry for my lack of knowlege and thanks.

Gez.

I'm not quite sure what the building regs for the gap is behind cavity walls but you'll easily have room for a few cable (you'll need a big hole to get the scart plug in and out). I've got pretty thick component cables and a few ethernet running about 10m in cavity and ceilings.

hi,

are you talking about internal walls (just plasterboard on studwork probably) or external walls of the house. On modern houses the plasterboard is fixed in place on to the thermalite block using "dot and dab" which leaves 1-2cm between the back of the plasterboard and the blockwork.

Cheers
